For a long time I am keep on heard about Companys downsizing IT department. They are doing these in two ways
1. Out Source
2. Get rid of bad apples and remain the good one
My suggestion would be join the out source company then continue your work. Make sure the company you joing make you as perment staff, provide your good salary and vaule you as good staff
Second they take it as opportunity good get rid the bad ones. So work hard be a good guy.
If your department head need to put in the downsizing list you can make sure he think twice. Do more then others. Grap other valuable knowledge such IT audit and so on.
It may help you when you looking for new job.
Continue your eduction doing Master and so on.
Why not we join University to become a lecture.
Guys..I remember, One book title..stop worry start living. Let we start living and dacing with downsizing tune. Late we face it. I think we can survive.
