Lately

I am being marketed by Amazon and Scientific American, two main places I buy books, for all sorts of special deals.

They constantly hammer me as though I buy books as a commodity based on price. Do you suppose they each have a “business development” department staffed by people paid to do this?

Thank goodness I never bought a (cement mixer). I suppose I would be inundated by their people.

Times are hard, and they probably are not selling many books. Is this their only recourse?

Books, people. You know in your heart what a book is.
