I’m trying to decide between a lateral move within my team (which has some personal benefits to me) or exploring a new position internally that would be a promotion. The team expects me to take the lateral move, although they know I have applied for the other position as well. How do I handle this without seeming selfish? They want to move quickly and I need more time to see if I can get the promotion.
