    Latitude cpx not booting

    Locked

    by chris ·

When powering up screen says F1 to reboot or F2 to setup. When entering F2 setup I can go to different pages when i try to change the boot sequence the arrow keys left to right do not respond. I even changed the keyboard and that did not fix situation. Any input would be appreciated.

      What choices are you seeing?

      Is the hard disk listed?

Have you checked to see if the hard disk is properly seated?

      Hi,
Some BIOSs use the plus / minus or PageUp / PageDown keys togo through the options.

If you have the Resouce disk, most Dells Resource disks are bootable and have a diagnostics on them. some Dells had a diag partition accessed by F12. I am unfamiliar with that model of Latitude so assume it is pretty old.
If you don’t have any of the above you can get: Diagnostics: Dell 32 Bit Diagnostics, Diagnostics, English, Multi System, A1102 for Latiude cpxh at:http://makeashorterlink.com/?C4D8137AA.
It may require a login for support.
      good Luck,
      Peter

If you have any security enabled (BIOS, Admin or HD password) then you will Have to Press Alt+P to go through the pages to get to the security page. Then under the user and admin password boxes will be a change settings field(can’t remember the exact name)which you should tab down to and then press either the left or right keys to allow you to put in your password and hence unlock all of the other settings on all pages so that they can be changed.

Press “u” or “d” to move device up or down in the list.
