Help is nice :)

by Henriquez In reply to Let's see if this helps H ...

AnsuGisalas,

I appreciate the help. Any thinking about what should and should not be private is well worth doing

As you say, personal economic information is shared, to some degree, between you and the bank. There are, and should be, rules about who gets to see it and what they get to do with it.

There may be some exceptions to your idea about company/employee communications, though. Compensation (salary, bonuses, etc. ) is one thing people are often reluctant to share with other employees, as are the results of evaluations or reviews.

Interesting point about the distributive nature of privacy obligations.

Jaime

Welcome to tonights gameshow : "Where am I & How the **** did I get here?"

Hosting the show is Mr. Take-it-Offline-Button!
So, now you know what happens when you push that link that appears in the place of "reply" when the subthread gets long enough... about now you may start to wish you hadn't done that, but don't worry, we've all been here.

Very true

... and exactly how is this "off-line" anyway? :)

Beats me...

by AnsuGisalas In reply to Very true :/

It's one of the great mysteries.

It's not part of the original discussion.

by CharlieSpencer In reply to Very true :/

The old forum model had a limit of seven message levels. To get around that, we would repeatedly reply to the sixth level. The PTBs introduced the 'off line' feature to reduce 'bottoming out' at the seventh level. Spawning a new 'off line' thread offers the chance to start a new conversation inspired by the original discussion but not directly on-topic, and simultaneously reset the thread level.

I personally have problems remembering how to navigate back to the original spawning discussion, but I'm an idiot.

Yes, Palmetto, you're an idiot. Or not!

Just for general clarification of this murky subject

The way to navigate back to the originating thread is by clicking the blue link called "Discussion about ########" where ####### is usually something completely different than the spawned thread itself is called.
