Letting users set their own time on doma

By f-2670839 ·
How can I set the domain users up so ther can change their own time?

Since placing users on the domain They have not been able to set their own time. I have tried to even set up a Set time group and make each user a part of the group but nothing seems to work

I believe you can do this In the User manager for domains. Go to policies and then User Rights. In the rights window select Change the system time and in the Grant To window add the users you want to be able to change there time, such as Users

Make your users Power Users. When you are at their Workstation, go to the local User Manager and click on the Power Users group. Then add Domain Users to that group, and then any domain user who logs into that machine will be a Power User, and Power Users, by default, have the right to change the time. By default, NT puts Domain Users in the Users group which do not have permission to change the time.

Done that they where power users before they got onto the domain. After they joined domain they could not set the time.

Why? Changeing the time is a security risk which is why it is locked down. You can make them administrators of the local box. Another option is to have the computer sync with a server either through something like timeserv or through a login script running net time.

If you have the NT Resource Kit, check out ntrights.exe. You can actually change the policies remotely to allow time change.
Syntax:
ntrights +r SeSystemtimePrivilege -u Domainname\UserID -m \\workstationname
The syntax is case-sensitive... Typentrights to get full syntax definitions. You might want to restart the workstation after applying this or at least logoff and log back in to test it.
