    LibreOffice Fonts

    by zlzpqx ·

I have (the latest version of) LibreOffice on my PC (Windows 11).

The names of two fonts in the Indian script (Aparajita and Mangal) are there in the list of fonts for LibreOffice (and also in Windows Settings > Personalization > Fonts).

However, when I select either Aparajita or Mangal) from the list of fonts for LibreOffice, instead of being able to type in the Indian script, alphabets in English (Roman) script appear in the text window.

I shall much appreciate a solution to the above problem.

    Thank you very much.

In Explorer, go to c:/windows/fonts and double click the font to show the contents. That is what you have to work with. If you think it’s wrong, compared with the way Windows handles other “exotic” fonts, contact LibreOffice.

        Kees,

The problem seems to be in Settings > Personalization > Fonts of Windows 11 (PC) itself rather than LibreOffice.

I say that because when in Settings > Personalization > Fonts of Windows 11, I enter any letters from my keyboard in the little window provided for “Type here to preview font,” alphabets in English (Roman) script appear rather than the Indian script.

Could you kindly try that out yourself? (I am well aware that you are not familiar with the Indian script, but all you will need to check is whether a script other than the English one appears in that window.) If you too get the English script, with your expertise, you may be able to figure out a solution to the problem.

        Thank you, Kees.

You have to set your keyboard settings to Indian (and preferably use an Indian keyboard, I think).

Like you, I’ve got no experience with exotic keyboards, but I can switch between US and US international, which have different ways of handling quotes. So it might stay a problem. But I don’t think anything is wrong.
