We're going through a manual self-audit for license compliancy. Problem is, as soon as I leave 1 PC my data could be out of date.
I looked into Track-It. They have a way to gather the data electronically and the cost/features look very appealing to our organization (we have around 175 PCs with 3 techs supporting them, currently we track our calls in an excel file).
My supervisor wants us to go with a product that is more proactive and automated. He would like to automatically get an email WHEN someone installs software on their PC. The other problem with track-it is you have to either launch periodic audits manually or in a login script, then run comparison reports. The login script processing could overtax the network and I have to agree that the comparison reporting should be automated. I'm told Network Associates provides this but with quite a high price tag.
Does anyone know of a product that can meet our needs at a reasonable cost? If you do, is it one you're using and does it work in a Novell 4.11 environment with 95, NT & 2k desktops?
