Running Windows XP Home. Constant popup stating Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. Checking the Application Error log see the error "Faulting application licni12n.exe." I have searched for this file (hidden/system too) and can't find it. I have run every spyware/adware/virus removal program you can think of. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Right-click Internet Explorer on your Task List (this appears when you click Start), and select Internet Properties.
Click the Programs tab, and then click the button marked 'Manage Add-ons'. Disable all non Microsoft Add-ons, then click OK until the Properties dialog closes. Restart I.E. If it works then return to the Add-on section and ask I.E. to update the Add-ons one by one, enabling one, then restarting I.E. each time. Hopefully you should at least identify any faulty add-on that may be causing this problem.
If you still have problems, click Start>Run and type:
sfc /scannow
then click OK. This will start the System File Checker and will replace any corrupt or missing OS files.
make sure you check the registry for that file name. Reinstall and patch IE to the latest levels. Make sure you don't have any spyware installed on your PC. Double-check your Anti-virus is up-to-date. Re-run scans on both until the system is coming up clean. Also, check out your scheduled tasks to determine if something is scheduled to run. Did you recently install anything...try to uninstall and see if that fixes it.
