Limit on SUM command in excel 97

By rms ·
Does anyone know if there is a limit of 31 non concurrent cells that can be placed in a sum command . ie (=sum(A1,b5,c6......). I ask this because I get an error when I try to put more than 31 in.

yes, there is a limit of having between 1 and 30 arguments in a sum command. I would add 30 in one cell, the balance in another, and then add those 2 cells together.
