limiting folder size

By Seadogs ·
Is there anyway to limit the size of folders on WinnT server 4.0? We'd like to set limits on the amount of storage available to individuals on our file server so that the usage doesn't get out of hand. Thanks for your help.

In NT 4 there is no way to set disk quota short of 3rd party utilitites. NT2000 introduces quotas. One utility is SPaceGuard from www.Tools4NT.com

NT Server 4.0 will not allow you to do this. You'll have to use a 3rd party product to make this work.

3 products come to mind. Quota Server, Quota Manager, and Disk Quota.

We use Quoata Server by http://www.northernparklife.com and so far, it's seems to be really good and pretty straightforward. Windows 2000 does allow this, but like most solutions that Microsoft builds into the OS, it's not nearly as good as what you can buy from another source.

Good Luck!

I've used a 3rd Party Software Product called QuotaAdvisor on my servers and it works QUITE well...

Windows 2000 has a feature built in...but if you're still using NT 4.0...try QuotaAdvisor...good stuff!
