By jramsey ·
Anyone had any success limiting PTP Peer to Peer Internet file sharing?? I have shut off ports 1214-1220, 6346-6349, 6699, 6257, 4662 and 4665 to the internet, but have had limited success.

Limiting PTP file sharing

Sure we have had lots of success. You should be blocking ALL ports except those you explicitly allow in BOTH directions at the firewall (HTTP, SMTP, maybe FTP, HTTPS) and at the access router (ACL's). Any in bound access that you allow should be either proxied or sent to a DMZ. Then you don't have to worry about the Peer-to-Peer file sharing programs working.
