Question

Locked

Limiting user account using GP

By mr_t_wright ·
Hello all I we have just upgraded from server03 to server08 and I am lost. What I want to do is lock down the "student" account that I created. The only thing I want them to have on their desktop is I.E, the only thing i wont on the start menu is programs, no "run, settings, accessories, search" nothing. All I want them to be able to do is log online and have access to the Microsoft office folder.

I know I have to set a policy and do a gpudate but i dont know how to initiate this lock down..?

Lock Down

Create a group policy in the Organizational Unity that the "student" account is under using Group Policy Management. From there you should be able to disallow/allow apps, run certain applications, and the like. You don't necessarily have to do a gpupdate /force. It should eventually apply with 120min or so.
