linking Oracle tables in Access 2000

by sranders . Updated 25 years, 4 months ago

I am trying to link Oracle 7.3.4 tables in Access 2000 without any luck. I was able to do this just fine with Access 97. I receive memory allocation errors. The problem is due to the Oracle LONG datatype. I can link tables as long as they do notcontain any LONG datatype columns. For some reason Access 2000 has trouble implicitly converting it to its own equivalent, the MEMO datatype. I am using the Oracle 7.3.4 ODBC driver to connect. What is even more bizarre is that I am able to link tables using the same data source using MS Query version 2000. I am convinced that this is strictly an Access 2000 issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated…
