Linking tables in Access

By Julia is here ·
I have an access database that links to the tables in another access database. Both are stored on our network.

The problem I've run into is that all of the users here have used a different drive letter to map to this share. Both databases are in the same folder...isn't there a way to tell Access just to look in the same folder, without a full path?

Linking tables in Access

Access requires the full path, but you can link to the file using the server path rather than the shared name.

So instead of linking to G:\MyData.mdb

link to:

\\OtherServer\C\Data\MyData.mdb

You can use the Linked Table Manager to changethe link:

Tools -> Add-Ins -> Linked Table Manager

Hope this helps.
