Links in OE rarely work

By raycuss ·
I use Windows XP Pro, Outlook Express and Internet Explorer on a Dell 8400 Desktop PC.

Links in OE emails rarely work. Both IE and OE are my default programs. I believe all pop-up blockers are disabled. Firewall is McAfee.

I would be grateful for advice on curing this problem.

Most likely problem is the Security Level of Outlook Express. In OE click on Tools then Options and Security in the window when it opens and lower the security level to something lower than it currently is.

Failing that you can always Cut & Paste the URLs to IE to get to the sites if security is important to you.

Are these links that you are sending out or are they links that you are receiving in? My guess is that the full link is not being copied and pasted in correctly in to the email. Take a close look at your email and see if the link is being broken into two lines - if it is, then you may actually have to manually copy and paste both pieces into your browser to follow the link. Hope that helps.

did you see this:
Clicking hyperlink in an Outlook Express e-mail message, causes Internet Explorer to display a 404 Object Not Found error page

I wish folks would work a little harder at describing how to reproduce the problem rather than 'rarely works'...we'd be grateful for such effort

Thank you for your reply. I don't get a page not found error message. Frequently Nohing at all happens when I click on links.
