LInks in WORD

by abutler . Updated 19 years, 5 months ago

I have set up a form in Word so that a title or report number can be repeated on other pages of the document. For example, a Job No. is typed into a field on the first page and this is automatically added through links further down in the document. Similarly, if I change the job no., I only have to change it on the first page and the changes are automatically updated on all other links further down the document.
After teething problems such as recognizing re-naming files and folders names broke links, this process was quite successful. Until recently, I believe an automatic Microsoft update has stopped these links from updating. I suspect this is the case because the same file cannot be updated on my computer and yet when I close the file and work on an older version of Word/operating system on another PC the same file works fine. NB All the automatic update criteria are the same on both computers in Menus TOOLS>OPTIONS and EDIT LINKS.
Has anyone a solution with these bloody links?
Has anyone got the majic answer.
