Linksys Wireless-B Broadband Router

By Ryu98 ·
Hi, i got a new dell latitude d820 laptop and it comes with Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection, network adapter. My linksys wireless-b router model BEFW11S4 works fine on my other computers. Just my new laptop keeps disconnecting. I notice that it connects using 11 mbps and it works fine but then after 3 or 5 minutes gets disconnect and then tries to connect using 54 mbps and that's when i doesn't work. i have to wait to change back to 11mbps. I even try to change the settings using only B but doesn't stay on that setting. The Default settings is A/B/G any idea what is wrong.
I was wondering if you have to change any setting on the router itself. Thanks in advance.

It depends on how you have setup the Router as to if you have to make any changes there. If you have implemented any security and limited the number or names of computers that can connect then yes you'll have to make some changes to the router.

If you haven't recently updated the firmware in the router now probably a good time to do it and then reset the security in the router to accept the new addition to your system.

Hi, Hal 9000 i did what you told me to update the firmware of the router and reset security settings and i'm still having problems with the new laptop only. So i decide to use an old U.S. Robotics router that can handle 802.11g and it seems to work ok so far. So i think i'm going to stay with this router and the other one i'm going to put it on the storage. Thanks anyway for your help.
