The easy way is to use the GUI assisted tool on the "start menu". "start menu" > system settings > network settings. If you want the command line method post a comment and I'll add them, but since you are new to this the GUI is the easiest way to start. You can get the command line stuff later.

u can go to command and type netconfig add ur ip address.

vi /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0

to configure your ethernet interface you can

pico /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

with this u will be able to configure your ip address, subnetmask for the device. i use linux 7.3 i hope this helps. cheers
