Linux print to Windows hosted printer

by rouse . Updated 24 years, 7 months ago

I have a lexmark z32 printer on my network shared & connected to a windows 98 pc. I cannot seem to get my RH7.1 to print to it via gui apps. But I can print from linux command prompt with the command: smbclient \\\\kc\\\lexmark -P and then: print readme.txt. That works ok.
My Printer Configuration under printconf-gui is as follows:
Queue name = lexmarkz32

Queue Type = Windows Printer (smb share)
Share = \\kc\lexmark
Host IP = 192.168.1.101
Workgroup = HOME
User = nobody
Password =
Translate \n=> \r\n

Print Driver = Z32
Options = default

When I select ‘test’, I get a ‘Sent a whatever page to “lexmarkz32″‘ as if all ok. However printer remains silent.

What am I missing, or better what can I try. WWhy can I print fromthe command prompt, but not through the gui interface?
Any ideas are appreciated.
