Linux – Ubuntu question

by jiminpa . Updated 18 years, 2 months ago

Ok, sanity check. I loaded Ubuntu on a PC that I want to use for various purposes. One of which is a web server for a small low traffic application.

I loaded the box and set it in place and attempted to telnet to it so that I could begin work on it. Couldn’t connect. I did a little research and found that Ubuntu comes with a firewall, ok, I turned off the firewall. Still couldn’t connect. I did a remote port scan on this machine and there wasn’t a single port open. I went to the machine and scanned it again locally and there still weren’t any ports open? WTF?!

I am stumped. I even went so far as to turn the firewall on and create a rule to allow my pc to connect to the Ubuntu box and still nothing. Anybody seen anything like this?
