Linux USB printing

By Roger ·
I have a computer running Red Hat Fedora Core 4, and a Lexmark X83 USB printer. The printer is detected by KUDZU, but I can't print to it.

Does anyone know how to make linux print to this printer? Lexmark doesn't support linux printing to this printer. Also, this printer has scanning capabilities, and I would like to be able to scan documents in Windows. If I can't find a solution I might have to go back to Windows (which I would rather not do for this system!) Thanks

From what I've read, this particular printer isn't supported in linux.
Lexmark hasn't released any drivers for it, and they usualy do support linux with drivers.
and I haven't found any drivers for it.

there is this though, a driver develpment kit for linux from lexmark:

Have you tried the DrvZ42 driver? I am not a Lexmark user, but I ave found that by using other drivers on printers from Minolta I can usualy get them to print very well from AIX and RedHat.

It is available here:
