listen32.exe

By Aldanatech ·
I have a Windows 98SE system with a weird problem. When I double-click on the C: drive from My Computer, I get a Program Not Found dialog box. It reads, "Windows cannot find listen32.exe. This program is needed for opening files of type 'File'." and it asks me for the location of listen32.exe. When I look at the registry, I find it in AutoRun as Default in Name and "C:\listen\listen32.exe\listen\data\startup.ast". I tried deleting it, I tried deleting AutoRun altogether but it useless. Every time I reboot the system it reloads itself. Any ideas?

What I found is that listen32.exe is a componet of "CU-Seeme". I would see if it is in Add/Remove programs and uninstall. Then reassociate explorer to open file. Use this link to do this.

Sounds like some of your associations have gotten messed up. Your best bet might be to do a repair install. You can do this by booting from a win98 boot disk and booting with cdrom support. Then go to the cdrom drive and type "cd\win98" (no quotes). Type "Setup" (no quotes) and reinstall windows (this will keep all of your previous apps installed. After the install test your system.

Cheers.

use ad aware and spybot search and destroy to clean up spyware.after that use spyblaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/downloads.html)
to block them from ever being installed.
