Listing Installed Apps for a Reinstall o

By Rock Ranger ·
I am looking for a utility that scans my register or drive to determine and list the applications currently installed. I have wanted this on several occassions, this time to completely reinstall due to a failing Harddrive. I have used screen shotsof the "add/remove programs" window, but am looking for something better.

Hi, you can generate a list of everything on your drive through the command prompt:
example:
C>dir
if you add the /p switch this will pause the screen so you can print one screen at a time and /s will show subfolders:
C>dir /s /p
If you have more than one partition, just do the same thing for each one.
As for the failing drive, you might want to look at drive copy to see if you can install a new drive and copy over the old one -
www.powerquest.com I think they will let you download a demo. Hope this helps.

What you need is a software inventory program. In another thread on this forum, several people suggested Belarc Advisor as a product that would do the job.

I'm also wondering, though, if some of the software programs designed to automatically update your software (e.g. OilChange) would also produce an inventory list of some kind?
Might be worth checking...
