Doesn't this model come with an external DVD/RW?

by ThumbsUp2 In reply to Load operating system to ...

According to the online User's Manual, this model comes with an external DVD/RW and the BIOS are set to allow it to boot from this device. If you no longer have the one it came with, you can purchase a new external drive.

But, why would you need to load the OS? Is the one that is pre-loaded not working? What happens when you power it up? Anything?

You may need to set the BIOS

To Boot off USB as well here.

Just open the BIOS and look in the Boot Order. If there is no USB Option you'll need one of their Optical Drives which connects through a different connector to USB.

Copy the Install Files to a USB Thumb Drive

Then insert the Thumb Drive and boot off that to install the OS.

Of course if this hardware doesn't support booting off USB then you need to use the supplied Optical Drive that came with it.

Get an external Cd/dvd drive.

I have one, very small and it does the job very well. They are pretty cheap. Go for a multi-combo one they will last a bit longer (depending if you treat them right).

Please post back if you have any more problems or questions.
