Loading Update across a network.

By simonfuzz ·
I have 1 win2K server, and 12 win2k cliant machines. Every time there is a sercurity update, driver update, or program update announced I have to go to all the computers and install each update or sets of updates on each computer. Is there anyway to have the server push out the updates to the client machines or am I just going to have to Update all the machines seperatly. If there is a way are there any online resources where i can read up on this more.

Thanks
Simon

Hi Simon,

you can use qchain to install several updates/hotfixes. I know that's not exactly what you were looking for, however, they do have an example on how you would create a login script that would install the necessary updates using qchain. You can then decide how many updates you want to install.

There is a program that microsoft provides for this called Software Update Services. This allows you to setup a server to automatically receive and push out updates to client machines. You can also make any part of the process manual in case you want to test it first. Here is a link with some more information. http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/windowsupdate/sus/default.asp
