Xubunto is recommended for ‘older’ machines so thats what I downloaded (in the alternate version) I had previously reformated the hard drive, so booted the PC from the CD I had made (boot from first hard disk)
I got the fist xubunto screen, but the loadup then hung with the bar at about 10%.
I tried again and identified a message that may reflect the problem
[ 0.000000] ACPI: BIOS age (1999) fails cutoff (2000), acpi=force is required to enable ACPI
[ 4.136470] IO APIC resources could not be allocated
Is this my problem? – What is the solution?
