Loading xubunto onto a 1999 Compaq Armada

By DavidClement ·
Xubunto is recommended for 'older' machines so thats what I downloaded (in the alternate version) I had previously reformated the hard drive, so booted the PC from the CD I had made (boot from first hard disk)
I got the fist xubunto screen, but the loadup then hung with the bar at about 10%.
I tried again and identified a message that may reflect the problem
[ 0.000000] ACPI: BIOS age (1999) fails cutoff (2000), acpi=force is required to enable ACPI
[ 4.136470] IO APIC resources could not be allocated
Is this my problem? - What is the solution?

Which version of Xubuntu did you download?

Assuming that you got the 9.04 version did you chose the 64 Bit version or the i386 version?

If you got the 64 Bit Version called xubuntu-9.04-alternate-amd64 this will not work with a 32 Bit Processor.

The Documentation for loading this Distro is available here
