Local Admin on workstations

By hardhead ·
I currently have users that only need very limited rights on the network but are constantly installing and uninstalling software on their local NT workstations for testing purposes. At the moment someone with Admin rights has to log in for them eachtime they want to do this. I want to be able to give these users Admin rights on their local machines so they can do these installs themselves but keep the restricted rights for the network. I can't seem to be able to find a way to do this. Can anyone help?

Hardhead:
If systems are set up under a domain structure and using NTFS on the box put the user in the Local Adiministrators group on the individual boxes. This gives them only administrative privilage on their boxes. Not on the Network. We do thisfor our developers.
Good Luck
Tom

Thanks for the answer on this one. It took a bit of getting it to work but eventually it did.

Create a global group under User Manager. Add all your users that need this access to the group. Add that global group to the local administrators group on the PC you noted above. This way you can add and remove "admins" at will without touching theworkstation everytime.

you should be running a PDC where the accounts on the PDC are limited, but on the local machine, the users are admins. thus limited network control, total local control

Run the local user manager on the client. Double-click Administrators.
Click on add, select the domain, select the user's account. ;-)
