My department (Desktop Support Services) is currently considering the Pro’s and Con’s of giving all the users on the LAN local admin rights.
The Helpdesk agents are against it because they believe their call volume will increase when users screwup their systems loading their own software and installing their own hardware.
The Desktop agents are for it because the believe this will eliminate calls going out to do this work that the user could do themselves.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. We run a Windows NT 4.0 environment and are currently migrating to W2K. This will be completed sometime in July (hopefully). Their are approximately 6000 users on the network.
