    local admin rights

    by thetechman2014 ·

hi what does local admin rights mean? It’s my understanding that it means a user can install applications on the pc themselves that they normally work on. I had assumed that a user profile followed them, and they can log on to any pc with their credentials. If they move to a new pc, would they have to install the applications on that one as well?

You’re a local admin if Control Panel > User accounts says so. Then, indeed, you can do certain things that non-admin users can’t, like installing a program.

And as the name says, it’s local. You can be administrator on one PC and not adminstrator on another PC. Then they can install a program on the first PC and not on the second.
