Local Area network deployment

by shanghai sam . Updated 24 years, 3 months ago

I have a problem here with Local Area Network deployment, but before I start i should tell you the situation. First, Our Network is based on Ethernet topology and we used enhanced CAT 5 as our cabling technologies. We have 5 storeys building size approximately 40,000 square feet. So let say our server is on the second floor and all the workstation are within the 5 storeys building except 2 workstation which located in another building in the same area to be detail both workstation are also not in the same building. The both workstation distance is more than 150 meters from the main server. As we are a traditional rubber company, we do not invest a lot IT, so our backbone is not optical fibre but enhanced CAT 5. But from what I know, Cat 5 cabling maximum distance is 100 M. So how to solve this problem.
