Local C Drive

By majestik ·
I cannot open my C: drive. Its the drive where Windows XP Pro is installed. When I double click the drive it lets me choose which program to use to open the drive. I can open it if I choose Explorer. I have googled and according to some websites I should delete autorun.inf from my C: drive. But i cannot find any such file in the root directory. Please help.

Re: cannot open my C: drive.

This problem could be caused due to disk errors which occur after a virus infection. To fix this issue please download and install the wonderful tool Diskheal from here:
http://www.luqsoft.com/diskheal/download.html

Please post back if you have any more problems or questions.

1. Open Start>>Run and type cmd and press enter. This will open a command prompt window. On this command prompt window type the following steps.

2. type cd\

3. type attrib -r -h -s autorun.inf

4. type del autorun.inf

If that doesn't solve it try this;

open a cmdprompt (or Run) and type - regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

I would also do a spyware check with Spybot Search and Destroy and with AdWare, both are free and can be found at sites like;
www.download.com
