Local Chamber of Commerce-great source!

by questor1 . Updated 24 years ago

In Cincinnati, OH the local Chamber of Commerce has proven to be a great source of information and contacts. The Chamber publishs a yearly listing of all member companies which includes the names and titles of the companies corporate officers. This Chamber listing is exactly what a job-seeker needs – the names of senior hiring-authority managers that help bypass HR screening. The annual listing also breaks companies down by the region and their Standard Industry Codes (SIC) by industry segment which allows you to target specific companies.

When using a list like this, it seems better to contact the selected manager directly by telephone rather than by voice mail, Email, or letter. These other comunication methods often do not elicit a response. Mondays and Fridays always seem to be “rush days” where the targeted manager may be too busy and unavailable to talk. It seems that Tuesday – Wednesday – Thursday just before lunch is the best time to contact these targeted managers.

This method has worked for me in the past!
