Location for Automatic Update Files

By nclark ·
With a small primary Win2K partition, files downloaded by Automatic Update can cause the free space to get dangerously low. Is there a registry entry / method that will cause Automatic Update to store files in another location other than in the WinNT folder on my primary partition. I have other partions available with significant free space.

You can change the default software installation path by going to the Group Policy snap-in module and double clicking the Software Settings folder under User Configuration or under Computer Configuration. You will then right click on the Software Installation icon and sellect Properties. Under the General tab you will find the Default package location text box and you can set the path you want here and this now becomes the default path for your installation packages.

My apologies. I misread the question. I will try to find the correct answer for you.
