lock default printer

By mscheurer ·
Does anybody know a way via group policy or REG hack to prevent users from changing the default printer? I have 3 printers inslalled, 1 print device. The printers are named black, color & Adobe PDF. Users are able to change the default printer. I want to lock in the color printer as the default. Any ideas?
OS:Windows XP SP2
Dell 3100cn printer connected via USB

You can use something like this in their login script (this won't stop them from changing the default printer when the login, but it will set it to a particular one each time they login):

'======START CODE =============
on error resume next

Dim net
Set net = CreateObject("WScript.Network")

'Add Printer
net.AddWindowsPrinterConnection "\\server\HPBlack","HPBlack"
net.AddWindowsPrinterConnection "\\server\HPColor","HPColor"

'Set Default Printer
net.SetDefaultPrinter "\\server\HPColor"

Set net = nothing
'===========END CODE===========
