    Lock screen in Android

    Locked

    by kees_b ·

I see a lot of posts about lock screens and app to show something on it.

In Windows I can lock my screen with Win-key + L. Windows shows a rather empty screen, so I need to do a mouse click and enter my password, just as when it’s booted. I never do that, because I use hibernate in such cases, a feature that Android doesn’t seem to have.

How do I lock an Android phone or tablet to be sure nobody else uses it? And what does it show then by default? Closing the case might work, but then it would be useless to use an app to show something on it. So I assume there is another way it can be triggered.

      1. Locking the Device
Power Button: Press the Power button briefly to lock your screen. This is the most common method.
Quick Settings: Swipe down from the top of the screen to access Quick Settings, then tap the Lock icon if available.
      2. Lock Screen Settings
Go to Settings > Security (or Security & Location).
Set up a screen lock method (PIN, password, or pattern) to secure your device.
      3. Default Lock Screen Display
By default, when locked, your screen will show the time, date, and any notifications.
You can customize what appears on the lock screen under Settings > Lock Screen or Display.
      4. Using an App
If you want to display specific information on the lock screen, consider using apps like DashClock or Always On Display features (if supported by your device).
      5. Smart Lock Feature
For convenience, you can enable Smart Lock under Security settings. This keeps your device unlocked in trusted locations or when connected to trusted devices.
