Lock users out of changing Date/Time

    Locked

    by cmullins ·

I accidentally posted this in the Discussions forum and now realize it was the wrong place. Anyway, I’m looking for an easy way to make sure that users cannot change the date and time on their PCs. OS = XP Pro and some 2000 Pro.

Go to the control pannel and select the Task Bar and Start Menu option. Un-click show clock. Then, go to run and type gpedit.msc Expand the Administrative Templates tree, then click on the Control Pannel folder. Now, you have two choices here:

      1) If you choose the Hide Control Pannel then problem solved and no one can get to any of the control pannel items.

      2) If that is too restrictive, then choose Hide Specific Control Pannel Applets. Click to enable, then show, then add. In the add box, type timedate.cpl Close everything out and the time/date control item is not available.

Just remember, even logged on as an administrator, you have to change it all back to get to either the control pannel ,or the date and time control.

      Hope this helps,

      steve
