I just got a new laptop with Windows Vista, and I was messing around on it when I somehow locked myself out of files and a few folders. Here’s what I did…
I went to the properties for a folder, and under the securities tab I somehow denied everything for group “Everyone.” “Everyone” is the only group listed, and I cannot seem to figure out how to give access back to myself. I’m the only one using this computer, and it’s an external harddrive if that helps.
If I open up a picture that is protected, I get a message that says “Photo Gallery can’t open this picture because you do not have permission to access this file location.” Similar messages come up for other file types.
