Log on/off hanging

Hi all,
i recently changed my test pc at work and set it up to connect onto our test domain, something i had done before several times after formating my old system,but, on this occasion with my new system it takes forever to log onto the domain and forever to log off,the server is running win nt server and my test system running xp pro,i have even taken out the nic card from my old system thinking it maybe the card but all to no avail,1 thing to note is on the server im logged administrator rights and it appears other admin users although they do not have trouble logging on they have mentioned that once on sometimes the system informs them they have no admin rights, maybe related or not? any help appriciated
