Logarithmic Expansion

By fiosdave ·
As more and more developers utilize their time and energy developing for the Windows Phone platform, we just may see a logarithmic expansion of the app base. Also, sinced the Metro interface is being used for Windows 8, and that Microsoft has tightly coupled the software to all the phone hardware (so far), developers will be able to maximize their efforts. Another factor is the return on their investment appears to be higher than the other platforms, since MIcrosoft is giving developoers a bigger piece of the pie. It may take some time for this to become the dominant platform, but Microsoft has the resources and patience to forge ahead. They've done this in the past and suspect that they will do that here, as well.

May be too little too late...

One thing is for sure. They need to do something. They have a ways to go in the development of apps for the phone (and now Windows 8?). While I do believe this to be critically important for the future success MS enjoys in this area, I have serious doubts regarding their implementation of it.

I suspect that the end result will be as mangled as that of the UAC and its offloading of its own responsibility. Time will tell.

As for me, I see "tiles" nowhere in my future on any of my devices. I already know better than to say, "never". But, I am tempted.
