I request your assistance with what may be a simple question.
We have a domain controller / server running W2K SP4 at our main office. We have recently setup a branch office, and a gateway-to-gateway VPN (thru a couple of Firebox VPN routers).
The branch office has a different subnet than the main office. At the main office, we have no problem logging on to the DC from any computer.
At the branch office, I setup LMHOSTS.txt to point to the DC, and setup DNS on the networking tab to point to the DC’s IP address.
I have setup a second ‘reverse lookup zone’ integrated with AD, listing the subnet for the branch office. I also added pointers for each computer in the branch office in the new ‘reverse lookup zone’.
I was able to join the branch office computers to the domain (got the “Welcome to the XXX domain!” and rebooted, verified the computer name was name.xxx.com).
But when I try to login, I get an error that the “DOMAIN CONTROLLER IS NOT FOUND”.
What do I need to do, in order to login from computers in the branch office to the DC in the main office over the VPN?
Pls. let me know if I should post any further info also. Thanks for your help!!
