Logging on to a NT 4.0 domain server

By Shanghai Sam ·
How do I log on to a NT 4.0 domain server with a Windows 2000 Professional Client?
The NT 4.0 server protocals are Netbeui and TCP/IP.
Keep getting error message that domain does not exist.

Logging on to a NT 4.0 domain server

If you've got a small environment, use Netbeui, I assume that you are on the same network as your server.
Netbeui uses broadcasts and it can find the server by itself. If you try using IP, then read the IP address off of the server, copy all of that IP information to the workstation but give it the next IP address.
In other words:
Server
IP/Subnet Mask/Default Gateway/
10.0.0.5/255.255.255.0/10.0.0.1

Wks
10.0.0.6/255.255.255.0/10.0.0.1

I still recommend using Netbeui, but I am assuming that you've got a small network.
