Logging on XP Pro in NT 4.0 Domain...

By LeonidasRomero ·
Hello all,

First configuration: XP Pro with latest patches running on a NT 4.0 Server farm running SP6A, Question: When configuring XP Pro, can the domain login account be made to be the Administrator account on the Machine running it? Right now, the user running this machine, has to log off the domain to logon to the laptop to load software and patches (even to download updates to the virus scanning program). I want him to have one logon to access all, both the domain and the Laptop.

Thanks,

Leo

Add the domain account to the administrators group on the local machine

Thank you! IT seems that this worked, though I have a funky error coming up in the Scheduled Tasks Log. I will post if I still have issues, but it looks like we are clear.

Thank you!

Depending on how much access you want him to have locally, you'd need to add his domain account to the local laptop groups. Go in to the Computer Manager, Local Users and Groups, select the group (presumably Power Users or Administrator) and add the user's domain account or a domain group.
