logging onto Windows server with Linux

By molly ·
I have a Redhat 7.3 workstation, and I'm trying to get it to log onto a Windows 2000 server domain. Is another program needed for this?

I am not a Linux guru, but have set up a RH8 machine to connect to my NT4/2k Lan using SAMBA. You need to configure the Server and Workstaion bits of SAMBA to get it working (a little like server and workstion service in NT) in both directions. I did struggle with this but eventually got it sorted, I can now mount NT/2K volumes on RH8. Anyway have a look at www.samba.org for a wealth of info.
Hope this helps.

Try Winbind a new development by the samba team. Winbind address the issues if having linux as a client and window as a server.

http://us6.samba.org/samba/ftp/docs/htmldocs/winbind.html

Good luck
