I am adding a system to my home network that had been used stand alone. Now when I log on I get a diff desktop startup menu etc. than when I choose not to log on. How can I match the two for optimizing features

One's probobly the default user profile and the other is probobly from when you hit the network.

You should be able to go into the passwords applet i nthe control panel and change a setting from users can customize their settings to all users use the same settings.

Good luck to you
