Login On Win ME

By mkrain ·
I am wondering if there is a way to restrict access to my computer using ME. As of now anyone can just press cancel or ESC to bypass the login screen. Can I change this? If so how.

There is not a apperent way to restrict access to your computer in WIN ME,thinking that it is an upgrade to WIN 98,the one choice is setting up a screen saver password,or to use third party software to deny access. For reference see the sites

As you must know restarting the computer is an easy way to get out of the screeensaver password protection. This is not really security.

Check out this link. It's for Win98 but may work on ME too.

Force Users to Logon to Windows (Windows 9x)
Category: System

Usually users can simply press 'Cancel' at the Windows logon box to bypass the login process and gain access to the local computer. This tweak will logout the user if the authentication fails or the user clicks Cancel.
