login registry problems

By kwoerner ·
I have 2 machines on my net, one 95 and one 98se, that don't come up with the client for microsoft networks login screen when they first start up. This is the only client we use, and it is set as the default client. After the machines start, I canlogoff, and then the login window then appears. I'm almost sure the problem resides somewhere in the registries of these machines. Does anyone know what key and value I should look for?

Delete the following entry in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Network\Real Mode Net

AutoLogon=xx

I got my info right from Q141858, which is here.

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q141/8/58.asp

It gives a lot of other steps which may or may not be neccessary. The long and short of it is usually the registry tweak.

(Sometimes when I cut and paste URL's it looks ok to me but once the answer is posted, an extraneous space will have crept in. Make sure you delete any extraneous spaces or the page won't load
