Login Scripts

By techgirl2 ·
I have an inventory batch file that I need to run at login for a specific group of users. I added a new group under NWAdmin\Add Groups and inserted the names of the users to run the batch file. Also, gave them rights to the server\vol\directory\file that the batch file is located in. How and where do I add the script to launch the batch file for this group of users at login?? Users are located in four different containers and we do not use individual login scrips. Do I add the IF...Then statement to launch the batch file, under NWAdmin\Search\new group (that I setup) or NWAdmin\Search\server that batch file is located on? I can't find the option to add a script under either one of these objects, so I'm assuming neither one is the correct place? I assumed the script should be added on the server where the batch file is located and write the IF...Then statment to reference the group of users to run the batch file at logon. I'm just not sure how\where to place the script. Thanks...

You have the choice of container, profile or user login scripts.
You say that you do not use user login scripts, so that either leavse profiles scripts (preferred option as users are in multiple containers)OR you could put a IF .... THEN statement to EVERY container script that has the appropriate user accounts.
Either way, I would also consider using a directory map to the location of the batch file, if only to simplify the admin work if you deceide to change its location.

Hope this helps

You can use the statement "IF MEMBER OF "GROUPNAME" THEN..." to map a drive or execute a batch file, where "GROUPNAME" is the name of the group the specified users belong to. Place the GROUPNAME in quotes.
There are lots of TIDS on login scripts with examples on the Novell web site support.novell.com. Look in the Knowledgebae and do a search on "login script"
