login scripts

By Davis, Gary ·
Hi

I need to create a login script to map some network drives and to connect to printers. Does Win2000 allow uning .bat files as a script or do I have to create a .vbs.?

Win2k lets you use .bat files the same way NT4 did. Mapping drives is easy enough. (net use g: \\server\share).. printers are a little tougher. One way to do it is to use a script engine called kix32.. you can add printers based on department, location or OU (http://www.kixtart.org/). The script engine is called from the bat file, eg. kix32 myscript.scr.

Hope that helps.
