Logitech Marble Mouse cursor.........

By --Loki-- ·
has a mind of it's own!!!! It only does this on occasion, but does it at least once a day...

It can just be sitting there, without any touch to it, and the cursor will just drift to the top or side of the screen... Or... I can just start to move it, and suddenly it's off to the top or side of the screen, and I have to move it in an opposite direction to get it to stop, and then it works normally...

Other than that, I don 't really have an issue with it.. Just the occasional annoyance... Oh, and I have to keep my auxilliary sound settings muted or there's a buzzing when I move the mouse, no matter what mouse I use...

The mouse in question is the Logitech Marble Mouse, plugged into the USB port... The audio in question is SoundMax Digital Integrated audio.... Have checked thoroughly for any hardware conflicts, such as irq/dma/ and i/o conflicts... there's not anything... Have updated drivers.. Have put drivers back to original drivers... no change... Currently dual boot btwn Win2k and Win98se.... Going to be adding Suse 10 to the mix in the next few weeks... lol.. As that's what I have on my laptop and I love it... Just waiting on getting more disk space for this one... Am curious to see if this is a windoze only problem, or if it acts the same in linux... hmmm... But any help is appreciated in the meantime..

The Buzzing will be the result of a bad Earth Connection somewhere and you are getting an Earth Loop something quite common with the High End Sound Equipment.

For the mouse problem if you go into the control panel and reset the mouse settings to something a bit slower in reaction time this should cure your problem.

bet no buzzin in safe mode.
you could try uninstalling the logitech software but i don't think that will help...
the buzzing when you move the mouse is your tip off you have an interrupt or other resource conflict. i can't explain why you can't find one.
is this a laptop? try disabling serial ports and modems via the bios for a test...

my logitech mouse does that too.

It must be a bug in the mouse itself because it happens at my home office and at the hospital where I work. I use the same mouse at both places. It might be called the marble mouse, but maybe not. It's that dark taupe color with a red ball centered between the two buttons. Drives me a little nuts as it happens all day long. It's nice to know it's not just me!
